Milestone of PMJN

In 1980, Professor Keshav Das Joshi and several senior doctors initiated monthly clinical meetings at Bir Hospital. These meetings highlighted the need for a medical journal representing their institution, leading to the publication of the Proceedings of Bir Hospital in 1981 A.D.

An editorial board was established around 1991 A.D. two issues were published under different titles. However, the official and consistent publication of the journal began in 2000 A.D., coinciding with the establishment of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) in Kathmandu and the launch of postgraduate programs at Bir Hospital. A new editorial board was formed in 1999 A.D. to support this initiative.

Professors K.D. Joshi, D.B. Karki, and several other senior clinicians played pivotal roles in the development of what is now known as the Postgraduate Medical Journal of NAMS (PMJN). Since its inception, the journal’s editorship has evolved, with each transition bringing continued improvements and advancements.
